Let me tell you about an experience I just went through. I’ve been snoring for 2 years. No big deal. My wife got used to it, it didnt seem to bother me too much.

I get blood work done every year and my numbers came back very weird. I was off cycle. Sent me to a blood specialist. First question was do you snore? Yes i do. I filled out a sleep apnea survey and answered yes to all the questions. Scheduled a sleep study and after 2 hours they had seen enough. I stopped breathing 43 times the first hour and 48 the 2nd hour. Over an 8 hour period of sleeping this would translate to almost 2 hours of actual sleep and thats not even deep sleep, which we as bodybuilders know we need – cures for snoring.

So for the last 2 years my body has slowly acclimated itself to surviving on 2-3 hours of sleep a night. They got me going on a CPAP machine and for the last month and a half I get a full 7-8 hours of deep sleep.

So said all that to get to the point………………… I did multiple cycles the last 2 years never really making great gains but getting harder or more defined. I was killing my cycles with no sleep. all my hard work was going down the toilet. Since getting on the CPAP machine and getting a full nights sleep I have gained 9 pounds. I just so happen to be on the tailend of a cycle now and am now realizing the gains I could have been making all along. It sucks that I cant keep on cycling but this one has been a 16 weeker so I’ll go into PCT and come back in March ready to do another.

If you snore when you sleep it would be well worth the money and time to look into doing a sleep study. The medical field calls sleep apnea the “silent killer”, if left untreated it can cause high blood pressure, cholesterol, and stroke.

ust got back in. Mom and I went for a nice walk around town, one which I’d say was about a mile and a half long. Hurrah for exercise!

Today has been one of the most boring since summer break started. I woke up about 11:30 because my mom and sister were going to Grandma’s. That’s always exciting. I ended up eating Wildberry Pop Tarts for breakfast/lunch and playing DarkBattle for a bit.

At noon, I watched Dexter’s Laboratory, which is always entertaining. Once my show was complete, I played some more DarkBattle. After DarkBattle got old, I wrote a bit more on my story. I then read some of ’Salem’s Lot.

I ended up playing The Sims 2 for a little while, and after becoming bored, I took a 30 minute nap. After waking up, I was so bored that I went into the living room and watched part of Uptown Girls with Mom and Rachel. Finally we ended up going on our walk, and here I am.

My friend Jesse sent me a World of Warcraft trial. I’ve been wanting to play the game for quite some time, yet never got around to the coughing up the cash part. Anyway, Jesse sent me the trial 3 days ago. All I have to do is download the game (2.74 GB) and then enter in the code that I received in the email and I get 10 days to play the game. I was pretty excited, so I immediately began downloading the game…

3 days later, I’ve downloaded the game 3 times and every time at least one of the files are corrupt. That’s over 8 GB of downloading–for nothing. So I’m pissed. Not only did I waste countless hours of downloading, but I still don’t get to kick any ass in cyberspace. I’m thinking seriously about just buying the game, but with my past game addictions, I need to save up a little more money since it looks as though I’ll be hooked for months.

So that’s where I’ve been for the past days. Sleeping, eating, watching a little tv, and waiting for the game to download, and download, and download…

So after a week of waiting, Dennis finally finished my new blog design. I love to keep rubbing that in on Dennis cause he knows its all in fun. The blog is interesting, fun and lively. I love it!!

Well school is out. I did pretty damn good this semester I think. I got a B+ in my eco class on my exam and I am possitive I got B’s in all my other classes. I am so proud of myself for this semester. I never once worked so hard at something for school and not even my graduation project that determined if i got out of high school. As a gift to myself for completing school today, I came home and took a nap. It was a common thing that I do every day after classes but it felt even better today because I didnt have to worry about waking up to study.

I am looking forward to this summer. Things are going to be different and I dont think I am going to be enjoying my great vacations I used to. I wont be coming home for some reasons I will keep to myself. Some know why and others dont need to know. If I do come home, I will be there for a few days, maybe 4 at the most. No need for anything longer.

Tonight I finished painting my bathroom in the bright stripes. It has only taken me a year to do but I have had many things going on in my life that painting that room, just didnt seem important. Now I have more fun things to do this week spending time with relatives I havent seen in a long time.

I am bored out of my mind right now so I am going to blog. I know it isn’t something I do often so I thought I would shock some people like Dennis. He didn’t even jump down my throat about blogging today!! Haha woohoo. I checked my transcripts today and I got one grade back. I got an A- in my eco 101 class. I was so excited I actually shoved my laptop across my bed and ran to the kitchen. Mom and Brian were pretty excited. I had to tell Jason since he was my secret weapon when I was stuck on a problem. Without him I wouldnt have such a good grade. He congratulated me and I am unable to wipe this smile off my face. I am just so thrilled I finally got an A in something. It means so much to me.

We took my aunt and cousin to Dino BBQ for dinner tonight and I made my mark on the wall in the bathroom. I never know what to write on the walls since its so completely filled with graffiti, but I wanted to put something. So I marked my love for my husband by putting H o t ch luvs D e b b u s. It is the most honest thing I could think of at the time and after today, it is very appropriate. Dennis you know I am always here for you and I am your NY counterpart/wife with balls. hahaha!!!

Well I guess that is all I have for now. I am gonna head to bed since I have to go to the trainer in the morning. Night all!!

Today was the Kodak golf toury that I help with every year and it was a total blast. I didnt get sunburned this year tho for once. Usually I am covered in sunburn from head to toe but this year I didnt wear a tank top and shorts that exposed as much. My job was to get all the golfers for the Kodak group to contribute $3 for the charity hole and we managed to get all but one golfer. I was extremely pleased with that because all the money goes to a really great cause. It was a long day and I ended up coming home at 7 and falling asleep with a headache and waking up after the Braves game that I wanted to watch and totally missed. I woke up and thought well I havent blogged in awhile so why not blog about whats been going on.

I have been babysitting a little boy, Xavier and he is really a great kid only he is in his terrible 2’s which makes it really hard sometimes to get through the day but i manage. He is really cute and after we play at the park for about 4 hours a day, we go in the house and pick on the cat. I know that sounds really mean but its fun and the cat seems to enjoy it. I have takin up golf this summer and I really enjoy it. Its a really relaxing sport to play but boring as hell to watch. Not much has been going on with me so I havent been blogging because there is no need, and I am never home anymore. I get home really late and sleep til about an hour before its time for me to go to work and well I am just plain boring.

It was yesterday that I traversed two blocks in North Philly and made my way to the Chop Shop here at Temple University on Liacouras Walk. I had every intention of walking in there and trimming up my same-old hairstyle without changing anything except the length. A pair of clippers and several snips later, I walked out of the Chop Shop with a whole new head of hair. Or, rather, a lack of hair. That’s right, I chopped of the trademark Denny B spikes. Gone forever (or at least for now) is my trademark American windblown look. Gone it is, in favor of a more streamlined and easier-to-maintain hairstyle which requires no morning maintenance and therefore no morning shower. Score. College never seemed so easy.

The change was met with strong and harsh reaction from the American citizenry. Indeed, friends from as close as Selinsgrove and as far away as San Diego screamed “OMFG!” and asked “WHY?!” Cashing in my trademark appearance for something decidedly less showy and less noticeable is surely not a Denny B characteristic—or at least it didn’t used to be.

Thinking about it later, in a deep way that I’m known for doing, I realized this is sort of symbolic. I’ve spent the second half of this year trying to separate myself from the “Old Dennis.” In attempting this feat, I’ve relocated myself, rethought my studies, redone my living situation, and taken a whole new approach to how I think about myself and how I approach others. I’ve really tried to work on “Dennis the Person” this year, and I have really tried to get rid of the old me. The old me is fading fast, and I think getting rid of this hold-over haircut was just the symbolic reconfiguration I needed.

A symbolic new beginning to top off what has, from the start, been an adventure that has severed ties, reworked common knowledge, and holistically changed my person. Sounds good to me.

We’ve made it to the dead of summer, and with that designation comes Summer’s biggest holiday here in the ‘States: Independence Day. This year, we celebrate the 230th anniversary of our Declaration of Independence, a document which began the Revolutionary War and gave birth to a new, independent nation. And all of this took place right in Philadelphia–impressive!

This year, I think it’s important to look at what we’re really celebrating. So often, we Americans like to trot out the word “freedom” as our idol, our life, our blood. The word, the idea, the reality–we’re presented with freedom in it’s various forms everyday. Perhaps we’ve even reached a point where we are desensitized to the word and it’s true meaning. For us, freedom has become nothing more than a political word used in stump speeches and election years. And when it’s not being used to promote politicians, freedom is used to promote Fourth of July sales at various retailers.

So, freedom. We seem to have forgotten what it really is. We seem to have meandered off the beaten path. Lest we forget, freedom is many things. Freedom is compassion and caring; freedom is protesting and picketing; freedom is the ability to choose; freedom is debate; freedom is voting.

What isn’t freedom? Freedom isn’t guaranteed; freedom isn’t spread by the barrel of a gun; freedom isn’t a war. Freedom is a choice. Freedom is not an American foriegn policy; rather, it is an American founding ideal.

This Independence Day, as we enjoy a barbeque with family and friends and late-night fireworks shows, let us remember what we are really celebrating: becoming a free nation. And by that, let us remember that “free” is not a political term or a sales term–it is a personal term. It means that each one of us, each American, has the ability to be compassionate, understanding, critical, outraged, delighted, defiant, compliant, and involved.

Let us remember that our history stands as it is because we chose freedom and we were not forced to accept it. Let us remember that this is a country of our making and that we were outraged when others tried to make it for us. And let us use this recollection of our history to determine our future.
